Even if just two people book we will run the tour!  There are 4 main reasons how we can do this...

1. Our reputation as the No. 1 photo tour operator in China means we get a lot of traffic and recommendations. It's very unlikely we will have less than 4 people book.
2. Our awesome community of past happy clients love to come back.
3. We have built and trained our own expert team and run hundreds of bespoke photo tours for years. Our team and connections mean we can remove the problems and cost of dealing with vanilla boilerplate Chinese tourism agencies and regular commision motivated guides.
4. We discount a limited number of early-bird spaces in order to encourage early booking, which not only saves you money but gives you plenty of time to arrange your vacation time and find a great flight deal.

We will email you as soon as the second person has booked or a trip is confirmed. If you are coming with a partner or friend the trip is confirmed as soon as you both book.

The cost is the same for a person where they are a photographer or not. This tour is designed and priced for the number of people guided, seats in cars, rafts, and we keep maximum number to just 8 people. Weather a person actually takes photos or not doesn't affect our ground costs if that person takes a place and seat on our trips and prevents another photographer from coming.

W'ere not a 'workshop' and not a 'tour'. Although not a workshop, there's nothing we love more than sharing our knowledge, answering questions, providing ideas and insights and arranging amazing opportunities to take epic photos. We're here to help you get the best shots possible. This is our passion.

As much informal help as you need. We're be a very small group, maximum 8 clients, and many of our clients level is advanced, so when we have novices theres plenty of time to give assistance.

We don't run powerpoint, handouts, or classroom style teaching in the day or evening, such as processing tutorials as our days are really packed, and historically we've found our clients are too tired to focus on such content. You've flown around the world for a short time, we want you to focus that on actually taking photos.

Focusing on the processing is something better done when home. Should you wish to hire us or other top pros we know once home we can put you in touch with some people or recommend some processing tutorials you can buy.

Do ask us any questions you have during the tour, we're really happy to share our knowledge and help you level up.

Sure! Anyone at any level is welcome to join and we're passionate about helping everyone get the most from our trips.

Any modern camera will be fine. Those with a dSLR you will most likely use a 24-70mm lens most, or a 16-200 range a lot. We also use a 16-35 range for wide closer shots with the fishermen, and a fixed 50mm or 35 and 85 works nicely for portraits shoots. A long lens 70-200 can come in handy and offer many more compositions in the rice terraces and mountain top sunrise locations. So a good mixture of lenses are recommended.

Accommodation
We find group tours participants prefer friendly family run 3 star boutiques with a few rough edges over 4-5 star boutiques, and so we've chosen hotels with value, location and western food options in mind. If you prefer a more luxurious trip please consider booking a private tailor made trip or look our for our Signature Group Tours where we stay in 5* and beyond.

Food
We've 9 years of experience living in China. We know authentic places that area clean with delicious dishes. Places no client has ever had a problem from these Chinese restaurants. Don't worry about food. We've picked hotels that offer wonderful local food and some western options, so in the evening you can order something familiar.

Physical Demands
Steps. Even fit people can be surprised our trails are more like continuous staircases than trails. The rice terraces can have a good hour of continuous steps, and the mountains in Yangshuo remote areas have 800-1200 continuous steps that take people on average from 15 to 35 minutes, depending on the heat, humidity, camera bag weight,  and their physical ability.

When considering flights and arrival and departure times consider...

ARRIVAL DAY

Arriving on either the afternoon or evening the day before the trip, in order to get some rest and a good nights sleep. Or the morning of the trip start date.

The trip starts with lunch together at 1pm. We will depart to photograph the ancient town at 2:30pm.

DEPARTURE DAY

We suggest you depart on the afternoon of the last date of our trip. If you require to fly out the next morning we can help you book a extra night in Guilin at our cost price and the airport transfer for you the next day.

PRIVATE EXTENSIONS

You can extend to any destination by having us curate a private photo tour in another destination such as Yunnan, Zhangjiajie, Huangshan.
