Best Hotels in Mandalay

Only 3 but good enough

Most of our itineraries focus less on Mandalay city itself, yet ancient towns nearby are more interesting. Hotels in Mandalay, in a sense, are just a place to crash for the night and we have 3 picks.

How Are the Hotels in Mandalay

  • Most are fairly mediocre with not much to surprise you. Good enough for a couple of nights, though. Plus, rooms are bigger than hotels in Yangon and Bagan.
  • Hotels of more than 50 rooms often cater for big groups and we’d prefer something in smaller scale and more personal services.
  • Most hotels are around the Royal Palace in downtown, some boutique hotels can be found by Mandalay Hill. For a short stay we suggest something in downtown for better mobility.

3 Best Hotels in Mandalay

Mandalay itself is somehow devoid of the old and innocent ambience that you can feel in other places. It’s more like a modern commercial city in its early stage. We are going for those hotels with the best value possible.

Apex Hotel, Mandalay

Built in 2017 and open in 2018, Hotel Apex Mandalay has soon be the town’s limelight for leisure and business travelers. After two stays there, we can say for sure it fits most travelers’ needs for a nice stay: spacious rooms, great lighting, classical decoration and atmosphere, plus a great location at the heart of Mandalay. Rooms accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children, which makes it our first choice for family travelers. Breakfast is great in variety and taste. Fun to stroll around its neighborhood or chill by the pool.

Room of Recommendation:
Apex Deluxe Room - 41sqm/441sqf featuring with a celling-to-floor window facing the city of Mandalay, extra-large bed and ample room for family of 4. Good sound proofing and higher floor for a relaxing night.
Address: 35th Street, Between: 58th & 59th Streets, Chan Aye Thar Zan Twonship, Mandalay, Myanmar

Mercure Mandalay Hill Resort

Recently taken over by Mercure, the originally resort by Mandalay Hill is still keeping up with its reputation for good services and nice views. Within 1km, you can beat most travelers in the early morning to Mahamuni Pagoda for the intriguing face-washing ritual. Rooms above the 5th floor provide tremendous views of the city and Mandalay Hill. Bigger footage than other hotels in the same ranking. Family vacationers would enjoy its plus services for kids playground and babysitting service. Spa center is top-notch in town, too.

Room of Recommendation:

Corner Deluxe King Room - 44sqm/474sqf room in traditional Mandalay royal style blending with modern comfort. Limited number of corner rooms and ideal for couples who need more privacy and lovely view of the garden and Mandalay Hill.
Address: No.(9) Kwin (416-b) 10st, at the foot of Mandalay Hill, 11232 Mandalay, Myanmar

Hilton Mandalay

Proudly the city’s 5-star hotel, Hilton Mandalay has been welcoming international travelers for the past 5 years. Its location is unbeatable: walking distance to Mandalay Royal Palace and other major sites. Restaurants nearby offer you more options ranging from French to Japanese, which makes up for the hotel’s only dining venue offering international fusion. Rooms on the north wing come with amazing views of Mandalay Hill while from the other side you see more local daily city life. Besides an outdoor pool, leisure travelers can also enjoy golfing at its golf course within 3km.

Room of Recommendation:
Executive King Room - boasting for sweeping view of the city by the foot of Mandalay Hill, the 48sqm/517sqt spacious room has a private balcony in addition to its vast bedroom and separate seating area.
Address:No.1, Junction of 26th & 66th st, Chan Aye Tharzan, 11121 Mandalay, Myanmar
