Gatsby Tips for The Well-Traveled

We believe it takes more than just excellent skills to capture Bagan's charm. What Mr.Aung Aung, or any other photography tour guide of Gatsby team, excels at is not teaching you how to shoot. Instead, he is there to offer your tips, bring you to the best possible locations that only the locals have access to and introduce you to those friendly villagers who might be his neighbours, relatives and friends.
Nothing is inexorable in this trip. Being flexible, we are always happy to make adjustments for you for a private version of this trip. We have some tips for photography in Bagan.

  • This trip is only operated during late October - early December and February to March, which is considered the best time to travel in Myanmar. But photography in Bagan is possible any time during the year: in the rainy season you will have startling clouds and colors; even in the hot summer, you will gain longer hours for sunrise and sunset photos.
  • Adjusting to the lighting conditions during the morning can be tricky and our photography tour guides will be happy to offer suggestions. Tripod, nevertheless, is always necessary.
  • Board lighting during the middle of the day is not ideal for photography, so we will send you back to hotel for a short rest.
  • We are not specifying any locations of shooting in this trip and a more detailed itinerary will be sent to you once booked.
  • Mr. Aung Aung also works with other world-class photography workshops, we will have other tour guides for you while he’s not available. The tour might also be led by our co-founders, Andy Beales or Mia Beales, who have won world prizes for their masterpieces.
  • The local government will charge extra fee for photographer groups and we got it covered in the trip. However the policy will be changed soon and we will keep you posted.
  • Running on a small-sized group means you have enough attention and guidance from your guide and we will ensure at least one hour of shooting at each location.
  • Included meals are mostly local cuisine with some international options. Please let us know in advance if you have any specific dietary requirements and we will try our best to accommodate.
